Creating new ML methods and understanding their impact
Machine learning methods are integrated into our daily lives, but what impact do they have on us as individuals and on society as a whole? Answering this question requires expertise in both the underlying machine learning methods and the vibrant, real-world markets with which they interact. I seek to understand and characterize the impact of machine learning models and algorithms on people, both individually and societally, and to develop new machine learning methods to improve not only companies' objectives, but also individual well-being and societal welfare.
